TOASTMASTER FUN FACTS

The logo has had 5 versions since the beginning.  This is how they have evolved:

You will notice on the first Toastmasters logo, there is latin writing.  Here is an explanation from our latin expert, Monaro Division's Audrey Dargan (with consultation with her latin teacher): "This motto has given me much thought: my translation is: 'he speaks that you speak everyone'.  My Latin tutor translates: 'he entreats that you entreat everyone'.  'Oro' can be translated 'I speak/pray/entreat'. 'orat' is present, indicative 3rd person: ' speaks/entreats, etc.' 'ores is present subjunctive 2nd person 'that you speak, etc.' However, 'omnes' everyone is nominative or accusative plural, m/f:  it therefore makes more sense 'to entreat everyone'; if it is to speak to everyone, everyone would take the dative: 'omnibus'!"
