What a productive start to the year.

Club officer training commenced in June at Bankstown Sports Club following Train the Trainer and finished on 31 August 2019. At the end of August, we had 868 club officers trained with 35 clubs having 7/7 club officers trained. Those clubs will now go into the draw for a $100 voucher to be drawn at the next DEC on 21 September 2019. Clubs that have 7/7 officers trained at ACLT commencing 1 November 2019 and ending 29 February 2020 will go into the draw for a second $100 voucher. Clubs that have 7/7 officers train in both rounds will go into a third draw of $100.

Congratulations to District 70 Lead Trainer Lou Beaton, her team of excellent trainers and to the Division and Area Directors who made this result possible.

Advanced Club Leadership Training will commence on 1 November until 29 February 2020. Please check the District 70 website for ACLT sessions.

Speakers Forum/Sunday Seminars

Maria Pedavoli as District 70 Seminars officer is committed to producing quality seminars at the Speakers Forum / Sunday seminars and Roadshow seminars for our district this year. The next District 70 Speakers Forum will take place on Sunday 22 September 2019 at Bankstown Sports Club from 10 am -1pm, followed by a Seminar from 1-4pm.  Spotlight on Storytelling – How to craft a compelling story presented by Christ Davitt. Inject Humour into your speech presented by Mike Smith.

Please view the District website for more information and the flyer to distribute to your clubs. Please check the website regularly to see future events.

I wish to thank Maria for her commitment to expanding the knowledge of our members through interesting and informative seminars.

Contest season

Club and Area contests are well underway as we work towards the Division contests in Bradfield and Central in November 2019. Lachlan, Phillip, Southern and Monaro Division contests will take place in early 2020. Remember to submit your contest budget no later than 28 days before your contest to the District 70 Budgets Officer Trish Matthews, budgets@d70toastmasters.org.au

The earlier you submit your budget the better for you and your host club as this allows for any adjustments to be made.

Judging Workshops

A Contest Judging and How to run a Contest Workshop was held on 21 July 2019. A second Workshop is scheduled for 1 February 2020. Further Workshops around Judging and Contests will be scheduled shortly.

During June, July and August we received a handful of telephone and email enquiries, dealing mostly with issues related to Level approvals.  We must remember that, in Pathways, entering Level completions is a two-step process.

1. Approve the Level completion in Base Camp (this will allow the Member access to the next level).

2. Enter the Level completion in Club Central (this will lodge the achievement in the Distinguished Club Program).

Over the next few months, Team Pathways members will continue visiting Clubs requiring assistance, as well as organising presentations at various District sponsored meetings.

On September 26 there will be a Pathways Session on Thursday 26 September at Torrens University from 6pm-8pm. On Sunday 20 October 2019 there will be a Pathways Beginners & Basecamp Manager Workshop held at Bankstown Sports Club from 10am-12pm followed by Advanced Club Leadership Train the Trainer session. On 10 November there will be a Pathways Beginners & Base Camp Managers Bootcamp in Canberra from 1.30pm – 4.30pm. Please visit d70toastmasters.org.au  under events for more details.

Visits by Team Pathways members can be requested by emailing:

In addition to the above, a series of presentations is being organised in conjunction with Trainers by Design Toastmasters, where separate training sessions will be offered for Pathways beginners and Base Camp Managers on selected Saturdays mornings at Rhodes. Details of these training sessions are published in the District 70 Website.
